English Translation
Dhu Makhmar, the nephew of the Negus, said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on a military expedition. They traveled a portion of the night, then stopped. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to me and said: "O Dhu Makhmar!" I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah!" He took hold of my camel's head and said: "Sit here and do not be a weakling tonight." I took hold of the camel's head, but sleep overcame me. The camel slipped away and wandered off. I did not wake until the heat of the sun. The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to me and said: "O Dhu Makhmar!" I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "You were indeed a weakling last night, as I told you." So we moved from that spot, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) led us in prayer. When he finished, he supplicated for the camel to be returned, and a gust of wind brought it back, driving it along. The next day, when dawn appeared, he ordered Bilal to give the adhan, then ordered him to give the iqamah, and led us in prayer. When he finished, he said: "This is our prayer from yesterday." Then he commenced the prayer for that day.
