English Translation
Abu Ayyub reported: We said: "O Messenger of Allah, this is the greeting (salam), so what is 'seeking permission' (isti'nas)?" He said: "A man says: 'SubhanAllah' (Glory be to Allah), 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), and 'Alhamdulillah' (All praise is due to Allah), and he clears his throat, to alert the people of the house."
