Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:4026 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ عَنْ رَبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَتْ قَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَأَشْفَقْنَا أَنْ يَأْمُرَنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَعْجِزُ عَنْهُ فَسَكَتْنَا فَقَالَ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَأَشْفَقْنَا أَنْ يَأْمُرَنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَعْجِزُ عَنْهُ فَسَكَتْنَا فَقَالَ أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ اللهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ فَقَدْ قَرَأَ لَيْلَتَهُ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ
English Translation
A woman from the Ansar reported that Abu Ayyub said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Is any of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur'an in a night?" We feared he would command us with something we could not do, so we remained silent. He said: "Is any of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur'an in a night?" We feared he would command us with something we could not do, so we remained silent. He said: "Is any of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur'an in a night? For whoever recites 'Allah, the One, the Eternal' (Surah al-Ikhlas) in a night has recited one-third of the Qur'an that night."
