Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:3601 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ ثنا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ السَّاعِدِيُّ أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ وَهُوَ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْ هَذَا عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ قَالَ «وَمَنْ هَذَا؟» قَالَ ابْنُ عَمِّي حَوْطُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَوْ يَزِيدُ بْنُ حَوْطٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا أُبَايِعُكُمْ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يُهَاجِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُهَاجِرُونَ إِلَيْهِمْ»
English Translation
Al-Harith ibn Ziyad al-Sa'idi narrated that he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the day of the Trench while he was taking the pledge of allegiance from the people for emigration. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, accept this person's pledge for emigration.' He said: 'Who is this?' He said: 'My cousin, Hawt ibn Yazid or Yazid ibn Hawt.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'I will not accept your pledge, for people emigrate to you, but you do not emigrate to them.'
