Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:2935 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ لَمَّا قُتِلَ حَمْزَةُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ أَقْبَلَتْ صَفِيَّةُ تَطْلُبُهُ لَا تَدْرِي مَا صَنَعَ فَلَقِيَتْ عَلِيًّا وَالزُّبَيْرَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِلزُّبَيْرِ اذْكُرْ لِأُمِّكَ وَقَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ لِعَلِيٍّ اذْكُرْ أَنْتَ لِعَمَّتِكَ فَقَالَتَ مَا فَعَلَ حَمْزَةُ؟ فَأَرَيَاهَا أَنَّهُمَا لَا يَدْرِيَانِ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَى عَقْلِهَا» فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهَا وَدَعَا لَهَا فَاسْتَرْجَعَتْ وَبَكَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ مُثِّلَ بِهِ فَقَالَ «لَوْلَا جَزَعُ النِّسَاءِ لَتَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى يُحْشَرَ مِنْ حَوَاصِلِ الطَّيْرِ وَبُطُونِ السِّبَاعِ» ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالْقَتْلَى فَجَعَلَ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَضَعُ تِسْعَةً وَحَمْزَةَ فَيُكَبِّرُ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ ثُمَّ يُرْفَعُونَ وَيُتْرَكُ حَمْزَةُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِتِسْعَةٍ فَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْهُمْ
English Translation
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: When Hamzah was killed on the day of Uhud, Safiyyah came looking for him, not knowing what had happened. She met 'Ali and al-Zubayr. 'Ali said to al-Zubayr: "Tell your mother." Al-Zubayr said to 'Ali: "You tell your aunt." She asked: "What happened to Hamzah?" They pretended not to know. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and said: "I fear for her sanity." He placed his hand on her chest and prayed for her. She said: "Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we return," and she wept. Then he (the Prophet) came and stood over him (Hamzah), seeing that he had been mutilated. He said: "Were it not for the grief of the women, I would have left him until he is gathered from the crops of the birds and the bellies of the beasts." Then he ordered the dead to be brought forward. He would place nine (bodies) alongside Hamzah and pray over them with seven takbirs. Then they would be taken away while Hamzah remained. Then nine more would be brought, and he would pray over them with seven takbirs, until he finished with all of them.
