English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed the morning prayer with us in the mosque of Madinah. When he finished, he said: 'Which of you will follow me to the delegation of jinn tonight?' The people were silent and no one spoke. He said this three times. Then he passed by me walking and took my hand, and I walked with him until all the mountains of Madinah disappeared behind us. We reached flat ground, and there were tall men like spears with their garments tucked between their legs. When I saw them, a severe trembling overcame me until my legs could not hold me from fear. When we drew near them, the Messenger of Allah drew a line in the ground with his big toe and said to me: 'Sit in the middle of it.' When I sat, all the fear I felt left me. The Prophet went between me and them, reciting the Quran in a loud voice until dawn appeared. Then he came to me and said: 'Come along.' We walked a little distance, then he said: 'Turn around and look — do you see anyone where they were?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I see a large dark mass.' The Prophet lowered his head to the ground, picked up a bone with some dung, and threw it to them, saying: 'They are guided — those were a delegation from among the jinn of Nasibin. They asked me for provisions, so I made every bone and piece of dung their provision.' Al-Zubayr said: 'It is therefore not permissible for anyone to clean himself with a bone or dung, ever.'
