Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:2514 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْهَيْصَمِ ثنا زِيَادُ بْنُ سَيَّارٍ عَنْ عَزَّةَ بِنْتِ عِيَاضٍ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قِرْصَافَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ لَكَ عَقِبٌ؟» قُلْتُ لِي أَخٌ قَالَ «فَجِئْ بِهِ» فَرَفَقْتُ بِأَخِي وَكَانَ غُلَامًا صَغِيرًا حَتَّى جَاءَ مَعِي فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَرَبَ فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَضَمَمْتُ يَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَبَايَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ مِيسَمًا فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا اسْمُهُ يَا أَبَا قِرْصَافَةَ؟» قُلْتُ اسْمُهُ مِيسَمٌ قَالَ «بَلِ اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمٌ» فَقُلْتُ مُسْلِمٌ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ
English Translation
Abu Qirsafah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked me: "Do you have offspring?" I said: "I have a brother." He said: "Bring him." I was gentle with my brother, who was a young boy, until he came with me. When he drew near the Prophet (peace be upon him), he ran away. I caught him and held his hands and feet together, then brought him to the Prophet (peace be upon him), who took his pledge of allegiance. His name was Maysam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What is his name, O Abu Qirsafah?" I said: "His name is Maysam." He said: "Rather, his name is Muslim." I said: "Muslim with you, O Messenger of Allah."
