English Translation
Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me: 'O Jabir, what is wrong with you — I see you broken?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my father was martyred and he left behind debts and dependents.' He said: 'Shall I not give you glad tidings of what Allah has met your father with?' He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Allah has never spoken to anyone except from behind a veil, but He spoke to your father directly and said: O My servant, ask Me and I will give you. He said: O Lord, return me to the world that I may be killed in Your cause a second time. He said: I have already decreed that they shall not return to it. He said: O Lord, then convey my state to those I left behind. So Allah Most High revealed: And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead... (3:169).'"
