English Translation

Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when a rabbi from the Jewish scholars came and said: "Peace be upon you, O Muhammad." So I pushed him so hard that he nearly fell. He said: "Why do you push me?" I said: "Why don't you say 'O Messenger of Allah'?" The Jew said: "We only call him by the name his family gave him." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "My name is Muhammad, the name my family gave me." The Jew said: "I have come to ask you." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Will it benefit you if I tell you?" He said: "I will listen with my ears." So the Prophet poked the ground with a stick he had and said: "Ask." The Jew said: "Where will people be on the Day when the earth is changed to another earth and the heavens (as well)?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "They will be in darkness beneath the Bridge (Sirat)." He asked: "Who will be the first to cross?" He said: "The poor emigrants." The Jew asked: "What will their welcoming gift be when they enter Paradise?" He said: "The extra lobe of the liver of a whale." He asked: "What will their meal be after that?" He said: "The bull of Paradise that eats from its edges will be slaughtered for them." He asked: "What will be their drink with it?" He said: "From a spring called Salsabil." He said: "You have spoken the truth. I came to ask you about something that no one on earth knows except a prophet, or one or two men." He said: "Will it benefit you if I tell you?" He said: "I will listen with my ears." He said: "I came to ask you about the child." He said: "The water of the man is white and the water of the woman is yellow. When they come together, if the man's fluid dominates the woman's, it will be a male by Allah's permission. And if the woman's fluid dominates the man's, it will be a female by Allah's permission." The Jew said: "You have spoken the truth, and you are indeed a prophet." Then he left and departed. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "This man asked me about things I had no knowledge of until Allah informed me."
