Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1216 حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْمَعَافِرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْغَنَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَتُفْتَحَنَّ الْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةُ وَلَنِعْمَ الْأَمِيرُ أَمِيرُهَا وَلَنِعْمَ الْجَيْشُ ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشُ» فَدَعَانِي مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَسَأَلَنِي عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ بِهِ فَغَزَا تِلْكَ السَّنَةَ
English Translation
'Abdullah ibn Bishr al-Ghanawi narrated from his father: He heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Constantinople will certainly be conquered. What an excellent commander will be its commander, and what an excellent army will be that army." So Maslamah ibn 'Abd al-Malik summoned me and asked me about this hadith, and I narrated it to him.
