English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated: Shu'bah (the freed slave of Ibn Abbas) said: I witnessed Ibn Abbas when a man asked him about the recitation in the Dhuhr and Asr prayers. Ibn Abbas said: "There is recitation in them." The man said: "Is this from the Prophet ♂? If the Prophet ♂ recited, I will recite, and if the Prophet ♂ did not recite, I will not recite." Then the man left. Ibn Abbas said to me: "O Shu'bah, bring him back." So I brought him back, and he said: "Woe to you! If he had recited aloud, the people would have known about it."
