Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11951 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ أَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقراطيسيُّ ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَعْرَابِيٍّ يَعُودُهُ قَالَ وَكَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَى مَرِيضٍ يَعُودُهُ قَالَ «لَا بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ» فَقَالَ قُلْتَ طَهُورٌ لَا بَلْ هِيَ حُمَّى تَفُورُ عَلَى شَيْخٍ كَبِيرٍ تَزِيرُهُ الْقُبُورُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «فَنَعَمْ إِذَنْ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ
English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited a sick Bedouin. Whenever he visited a sick person, he would say: 'No harm, it is a purification, if Allah wills.' The Bedouin said: 'You say purification? No, rather it is a fever that boils upon an old man and will lead him to the graves.' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Then yes, it will be so.'
