Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11875 حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَزَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ قَالَا ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُكَينٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَيَّةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَهْطًا أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَاءُوا مَعَهُمْ بِامْرَأَةٍ فَقَالُوا يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْكَ فِي الزِّنَا؟ قَالَ «اذْهَبُوا فَائْتُونِي بِرَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ عُلَمَاءِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ» فَأَتَوْهُ بِرَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا شَابٌّ فَصِيحٌ وَالْآخَرُ شَابٌّ قَدْ سَقَطَ حَاجِبُهُ عَلَى عَيْنِهِ حَتَّى يَرْفَعَهَا بعصابٍ فَقَالَ «أَنْشُدُكُمَا اللهَ لَمَا أَخْبَرْتُمُونا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَى مُوسَى فِي الزَّانِيِ» قَالَا نَشَدْتَنَا بِعَظِيمٍ وَإِنَّا نُخْبِرَكَ أَنَّ اللهَ أَنْزَلَ عَلَى مُوسَى فِي الزَّانِيِ الرَّجْمَ وَأَنَّا كُنَّا قَوْمًا شَبَبَةً وَكَانَتْ نِسَاؤُنَا حَسَنَةً وُجُوهُهَا وَأَنَّ ذَلِكَ كَثُرَ فِينَا فَلَمْ نَقُمْ لَهُ فَصِرْنَا نَجْلِدُ وَالتَّعْبِيرُ فَقَالَ «اذْهَبُوا بصاحبِتِكُمْ فَإِذَا وَضَعَتْ مَا فِي بَطْنِهَا فارْجُمُوها»
English Translation
Ibn Abbas reported that a group came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with a woman and said: 'O Muhammad, what has been revealed to you regarding fornication?' He said: 'Go and bring me two of the scholars of the Children of Israel.' They brought two men, one young and eloquent, and the other elderly whose eyebrow had fallen over his eye so he had to lift it with a bandage. He said: 'I adjure you by Allah, tell me what Allah revealed to Musa regarding the fornicator.' They said: 'You have adjured us with something great. We will tell you that Allah revealed to Musa stoning for the fornicator. We were young people and our women were beautiful, and it became widespread among us. We could not enforce it, so we resorted to lashing and public humiliation instead.' He said: 'Go with your woman, and when she delivers what is in her womb, stone her.'
