Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11836 حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ عَلِيلٌ يَشُقُّ عَلِيَّ الْقِيَامُ فَمُرْنِي بِلَيْلَةٍ لَعَلَّ اللهَ أَنْ يُوَفِّقَنِي فِيهَا لَلَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ قَالَ «عَلَيْكَ بِالسَّابِعَةِ»
English Translation
Ibn Abbas reported that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, my father is an old and sickly man, and it is difficult for me to stand (in night prayer). Direct me to a night in which Allah may grant me success for the Night of Decree.' He said: 'You should seek the twenty-seventh night.'
