Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1159 حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ صَاحِبُ الصَّدَقَةِ ثنا عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ إِذْ أَتَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَتَقَلَّبُ فِي الرَّمْضَاءِ ظَهْرًا لِبَطْنٍ وَيَقُولُ يَا نَفْسُ نَوْمٌ بِاللَّيْلِ وَبَاطِلٌ بِالنَّهَارِ وتُرَجِّينَ أَنْ تَدْخُلِي الْجَنَّةَ؟ فَلَمَّا قَضَى ذَاتَ نَفْسِهِ أَقْبَلَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ «دُونَكُمْ أَخُوكُمْ» قُلْنَا ادْعُ اللهَ لَنَا يَرْحَمْكَ اللهُ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْمَعْ عَلَى الْهُدَى أَمْرَهُمْ قُلْنَا زِدْنَا قَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلِ التَّقْوَى زَادَهُمْ قُلْنَا زِدْنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «زِدْهُمِ اللهُمَّ وَفِّقْهُ» قَالَ اللهُمَّ اجْعَلِ الْجَنَّةَ مَآبَهُمْ
English Translation
Buraydah narrated: While the Prophet (peace be upon him) was on a journey, he came upon a man rolling in the scorching heat, turning from his back to his belly, saying: "O my soul, you sleep at night and engage in vanity during the day, and yet you hope to enter Paradise?" When the man finished, he came to us. The Prophet said: "Here is your brother." We said: "Pray to Allah for us, may Allah have mercy on you." He said: "O Allah, unite their affair upon guidance." We said: "More." He said: "O Allah, make piety their provision." We said: "More." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Give them more." He said: "O Allah, make Paradise their final abode."
