Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11706 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ السوسيُّ ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ وَصُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلَاثِينَ»
English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see [the crescent] and break your fast when you see [the crescent]. If clouds obstruct it, then complete thirty days.'
