English Translation
Jabir and Ibn Abbas narrated: 'We arrived with the Prophet (peace be upon him) intending only Hajj, so we entered ihram for Hajj. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performed tawaf on his riding mount, touching the corner (Black Stone) with a hooked staff he had. Then he went to the place of the water supply (Zamzam) and said: "Draw water for me." They drew a bucket for him, and he took a sip and rinsed his mouth, then spat it back into the bucket. Then he said: "Return it." He said: "O Banu Hashim, you are doing righteous work. Were it not that you would be overwhelmed or it would become an established practice, I would have drawn water with you." Then he went to his camp and addressed his companions, saying: "Umrah has entered into your Hajj, so come out of ihram, except for those who have brought a sacrificial animal." He said: "Were it not that I have brought a sacrificial animal, I would have joined you." Suraqah ibn Malik stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this for our year only or for all time?" He said: "Rather, for all time." They were pleased when their practice coincided with that of the people of Jahiliyyah. The people of Jahiliyyah used to say: "When Safar ends, the camel hair grows back, and the sores heal, then Umrah becomes permissible for those who wish to perform it."'
