Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:10845 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَنْدَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ سَنْدِيلَةُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْفِرْسانيُّ ثنا أَبُو هَانِئٍ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَتَمَ عِلْمًا يَعْلَمُهُ أُلْجِمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِلِجَامٍ مِنْ نَارٍ» قَالَ «هِي الشَّهَادَةُ تَكُونُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُدْعا لَهَا أَوْ لَا يُدْعَا لَهَا وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا يُرْشِدُ صَاحِبَهَا إِلَيْهَا فَهُوَ هَذَا الْعِلْمُ»
English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: 'Whoever conceals knowledge that he knows will be bridled on the Day of Resurrection with a bridle of fire.' He said: 'This refers to testimony that a man has — he is called for it or not called for it — and he knows it but does not guide the concerned party to it. This is the knowledge (referred to).'
