Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:107 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ «كَانَتِ الشُّورَى فَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ ؓ لِثَلَاثٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ ثُمَّ قُتِلَ عُثْمَانُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لِثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ خَلَتْ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ تَمَامَ سَنَةِ خَمْسٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَسِنُّهُ ثَمَانٍ وَثَمَانُونَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ يُصَفِّرُ لِحْيَتَهُ وَكَانَتْ وِلَايَةُ عُثْمَانَ ؓ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً»
English Translation
The consultation (shura) took place and the people agreed upon Uthman for three days remaining of Dhul-Hijjah in the year twenty-three. Then Uthman was killed on the eighteenth of Dhul-Hijjah in the year thirty-five. His caliphate was twelve years.
