Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:10514 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعُمَرِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَشَرِيكٌ وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تُرْضِيَنَّ أَحَدًا بِسَخَطِ اللهِ وَلَا تَحْمَدَنَّ أَحَدًا عَلَى فَضْلِ اللهِ وَلَا تَذُمَّنَ أَحَدًا عَلَى مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِكَ اللهُ؛ فَإِنَّ رِزْقَ اللهِ لَا يَسُوقُهُ إِلَيْكَ حِرْصُ حَرِيصٍ وَلَا يَرُدُّهُ عَنْكَ كَرَاهِيَةُ كَارِهٍ وَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى بِقِسْطِهِ وَعَدْلِهِ جَعَلَ الرَّوْحَ وَالْفَرَحَ فِي الرِّضَا وَالْيَقِينِ وَجَعَلَ الْهَمَّ وَالْحَزَنَ فِي السَّخَطِ»
English Translation
Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do not please anyone at the expense of Allah's displeasure. Do not praise anyone for the bounty that Allah has bestowed. Do not blame anyone for what Allah has not given you. For the provision of Allah cannot be driven to you by the eagerness of the eager, nor can it be repelled from you by the aversion of the averse. Indeed, Allah in His justice and fairness has placed comfort and joy in contentment and certainty, and has placed worry and grief in discontent."
