Arabic (Original)
نَا نَا حُدَيْجُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِالْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ سورة الرعد آية 4 قَالَ:" الصِّنْوَانُ: أَنْ يَكُونَ أَصْلُهَا وَاحِدًا وَرءُوسُهَا مُتَفَرِّقَةٌ، وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ: أَنْ تَكُونَ النَّخْلَةُ مُنْفَرِدَةً لَيْسَ عِنْدَهَا شَيْءٌ".
English Translation
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the verse: 'And those they invoke besides Him do not respond to them at all except as one who stretches his hands toward water to reach his mouth' (al-Ra'd: 14) — He said: 'A thirsty man who tries to get water to his mouth from a distance, but it never reaches him.'
Urdu Translation
سیدنا براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا:﴿صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ﴾یعنی صنوان وہ ہے جس کی جڑ ایک ہو اور شاخیں الگ الگ ہوں، اور غیر صنوان وہ ہے جو تنہا ہو اور اس کے ساتھ کوئی درخت نہ ہو۔[سنن سعید بن منصور/كتاب التفسير/حدیث: 1153]
