Arabic (Original)
وعن أنس ، رضي الله عنه ، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ومعاذ رديفه على الرحل قال: "يا معاذ" قال: لبيك يا رسول الله وسعديك، قال: "يامعاذ" قال :لبيك يا رسول الله وسعديك. قال: "يا معاذ" قال: لبيك يا رسول الله وسعديك ثلاثاً، قال: "ما من عبد يشهد أن لا إله إلا الله ، وأن محمداً عبده ورسوله صدقاً من قلبه إلا حرمه الله على النار" قال: يا رسول الله أفلا أخبر بها الناس فيستبشروا؟ قال: "إذا يتكلوا" فأخبر بها معاذ عند موته تأثما . ((متفق عليه)) .
English Translation
Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported:Hadrat Mu'adh bin Jabal was riding on the beast with the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), when he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to him, "O Hadrat Mu'adh!" Hadrat Mu'adh replied, "Here I am responding to you, and at your pleasure, O Beloved Messenger of Allah." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) again called out, "O Hadrat Mu'adh." He (again) replied, "Here I am responding your call, and at your pleasure." He (Beloved Messenger of Allah) addressed him (again), "O Hadrat Mu'adh!" He replied, "Here I am responding to you, and at your pleasure, O Beloved Messenger of Allah." Upon this he (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) said, "If anyone testifies sincerely that there is no true god except Allah, and Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is His slave and Messenger, truly from his heart, Allah will safeguard him from Hell." He (Hadrat Mu'adh) said, "O Beloved Messenger of Allah, shall I not then inform people of it, so that they may have glad tidings." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) replied, "Then they will rely on it alone (and thus give up good works altogether)." Hadrat Mu'adh (may Allah be well pleased with him) disclosed this Hadith at the time of his death, to avoid sinning for concealing..
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سوار تھے اور حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپ کے پیچھے بیٹھے تھے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: "اے حضرت معاذ!" انہوں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ وسعدیک۔ آپ نے فرمایا: "اے حضرت معاذ!" انہوں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ وسعدیک۔ آپ نے فرمایا: "اے حضرت معاذ!" انہوں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ وسعدیک - تین بار۔ پھر آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "جو بندہ سچے دل سے گواہی دے کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس کے بندے اور رسول ہیں، اللہ اس پر جہنم حرام فرما دے گا۔" حضرت معاذ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا میں لوگوں کو نہ بتا دوں تاکہ وہ خوش ہوں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: "پھر وہ (صرف اسی پر) بھروسہ کر لیں گے (اور عمل چھوڑ دیں گے)۔" حضرت معاذ نے اپنی وفات کے وقت یہ حدیث بیان فرمائی تاکہ علم چھپانے کا گناہ نہ ہو۔ (متفق علیہ)
