Arabic (Original)
وعنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " اليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى وابدأ بمن تعول، وخير الصدقة ما كان عن ظهر غنًى، ومن يستعفف، يعفه الله، ومن يستغن، يغنه الله" ((رواه البخاري)).
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported:the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "The upper hand is better than the lower one (i.e., the spending hand is better than the receiving hand); and begin (charity) with those who are under your care; and the best charity is that which given out of surplus; and he who asks (Allah) to help him abstain from the unlawful and the forbidden, Allah will fulfill his wish; and he who seeks self-sufficiency will be made self-sufficient by Allah"..
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اوپر والا ہاتھ نیچے والے ہاتھ سے بہتر ہے اور جو تمہارے زیر کفالت ہیں ان سے شروع کرو۔ سب سے بہترین صدقہ وہ ہے جو بے نیازی سے دیا جائے۔ جو عفت اختیار کرے اللہ اسے عفت عطا فرمائے اور جو بے نیازی اختیار کرے اللہ اسے غنی کر دے۔
