Arabic (Original)
وعن ابن عمر رضى الله عنهما قال: مررت على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفى إزاري استرخاء، فقال: "يا عبد الله، ارفع إزارك" فرفعت ثم قال: "زد"، فزدت، فما زلت أتحراها بعد. فقال بعض القوم: إلى أين ؟ فقال: إلى أنصاف الساقين".((رواه مسلم))
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them) reported:My lower garment was trailing as I passed by the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) so he said, "Raise your lower garment, Hadrat Abdullah." I lifted it up and he told me to raise it higher. I complied with his orders and as I was still trying to find the best place (for it), one of the people asked where it should reach and he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) replied, "Half way down the knees.".
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس سے گزرا اور میرا تہبند ڈھیلا تھا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اے عبداللہ! اپنا تہبند اٹھاؤ۔ میں نے اٹھایا۔ پھر فرمایا: اور اٹھاؤ۔ میں نے اور اٹھایا۔ اس کے بعد سے میں ہمیشہ اس کا خیال رکھتا رہا۔ کسی نے پوچھا: کہاں تک؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: آدھی پنڈلی تک۔ (مسلم)
