وعن عائشة رضي الله عنها، أن قريشًا أهمهم شأن المرأة المخزومية التي سرقت فقالوا: من يكلم فيها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ؟ فقالوا: ومن يجترئ عليه إلا أسامة بن زيد، حب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :، فكلمه أسامة فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم :“أتشفع في حد من حدود الله تعالى؟ “ثم قام فاختطب، ثم قال: “إنما أهلك الذين قبلكم أنهم كانوا إذا سرق فيهم الشريف تركوه، وإذا سرق فيهم الضعيف، أقاموا عليه الحد، وايم الله لو أن فاطمة بنت محمد سرقت لقطعت يدها” ((متفق عليه)). وفي رواية فتلون وجه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " فقال: "أتشفع في حد من حدود الله؟" قال أسامة: استغفر لي يا رسول الله قال: ثم أمر بتلك المرأة فقطعت يدها.
English Translation
Hadrat 'Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) reported that the Quraish were anxious about a woman from Banu Makhzum who had committed theft and asked : "Who will speak to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about her?" Then they said: "No one will be bold enough to do so except Hadrat Usamah bin Zaid, the (Companion who was) dearly loved by the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." So Hadrat Usamah (may Allah be well pleased with him) spoke to him and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (angrily) said, "Are you interceding regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah?" He then got up and delivered an address in which he said, "Indeed what destroyed the people before you was just that when a person of high rank among them committed a theft, they spared him; but if the same crime was done by a poor person they inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. I swear by Allah that if Hadrat Fatimah daughter of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) should steal, I would have her hand cut off.".In another narration Hadrat 'Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) said: (Upon hearing the intercession of Hadrat Usamah), the face of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) changed color (because of anger) and he said, "Do you dare to intercede in matters prescribed by Allah?" Hadrat Usamah pleaded: "O Beloved Messenger of Allah! Pray for my forgiveness." Hadrat 'Aishah (may Allah be well pleased with her) added: Thereafter the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave orders to have that woman's hand cut off.
Urdu Translation
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ قریش کو بنو مخزوم کی ایک عورت کی فکر لاحق ہوئی جس نے چوری کی تھی۔ انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے اس کے بارے میں کون بات کرے گا؟ پھر کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے محبوب حضرت اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کے سوا اس کی جرأت کون کر سکتا ہے؟ حضرت اسامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بات کی تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: کیا تم اللہ تعالیٰ کی حدود میں سے ایک حد میں سفارش کرتے ہو؟ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور خطبہ دیا، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: تم سے پہلے لوگ اسی لیے ہلاک ہوئے کہ جب ان میں کوئی بڑا آدمی چوری کرتا تو اسے چھوڑ دیتے اور جب کوئی کمزور چوری کرتا تو اس پر حد قائم کرتے۔ اللہ کی قسم! اگر فاطمہ بنت محمد بھی چوری کرتیں تو میں ان کا بھی ہاتھ کاٹتا۔ (متفق علیہ) ایک روایت میں ہے: آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا چہرہ متغیر ہو گیا اور ارشاد فرمایا: کیا تم اللہ کی حدود میں سفارش کرتے ہو؟ حضرت اسامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میرے لیے مغفرت کی دعا فرمائیں۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حکم دیا اور اس عورت کا ہاتھ کاٹ دیا گیا۔
