It is narrated that Hadrat Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) left Hunain, I was the tenth of a group of ten of the people of Makkah who were trying to catch up with them. We heard them calling the Adhan for the prayer and we started to repeat the Adhan, mocking them. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, 'I heard among these people the Adhan of one who has a beautiful voice.' He sent for us, and we recited the Adhan one by one, and I was the last of them. When I said the Adhan, he said: 'Come here.' He sat me down in front of him and rubbed my forelock and blessed me three times, then he said, 'Go and give the Adhan at the sacred House.' I said: 'How, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He taught me as you say the Adhan now: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)an Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)an Rasulallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)an Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)an Rasulallah; Hayya 'alas-salah, Hayya 'ala-salah; Hayya 'alal-falah Hayya 'alal-falah; as-salatu khairun min an-nawm;as-salatu khairun min an-nawm; (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger Allah; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I bear witness that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him); Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to prosperity, come to prosperity; prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep)' - in the first (Adhan) for As-Subh (Fajr). حضرت ابومحذورہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حنین سے نکلے تو میں ( بھی ) نکلا، میں اہل مکہ کا دسواں شخص تھا، ہم انہیں تلاش کر رہے تھے تو ہم نے انہیں نماز کے لیے اذان دیتے ہوئے سنا، تو ہم بھی اذان دینے ( اور ) ان کا مذاق اڑانے لگے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ان لوگوں میں سے ایک اچھی آواز والے شخص کی اذان میں نے سنی ہے چنانچہ آپ نے ہمیں بلا بھیجا تو یکے بعد دیگرے سبھی لوگوں نے اذان دی، اور میں ان میں سب سے آخری شخص تھا جب میں اذان دے چکا ( تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا ) : ادھر آؤ! چنانچہ آپ نے مجھے اپنے سامنے بٹھایا، اور میری پیشانی پر ( شفقت کا ) ہاتھ پھیرا، اور تین بار برکت کی دعائیں دیں، پھر فرمایا: جاؤ اور خانہ کعبہ کے پاس اذان دو ( تو ) میں نے کہا: کیسے اللہ کے رسول؟ تو آپ نے مجھے اذان سکھائی جیسے تم اس وقت اذان دے رہے ہو: «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ» ( پھر دوبارہ ) «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ»، «حى على الصلاة»، «حى على الصلاة»، «حى على الفلاح»، «حى على الفلاح»، «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «لا إله إلا اللہ»، اور فجر میں «الصلاة خير من النوم»، «الصلاة خير من النوم» نماز نیند سے بہتر ہے، نماز نیند سے بہتر ہے کہا، ( اور ) کہا: مجھے آپ نے اقامت دہری سکھائی: «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ»، «أشهد أن محمدا رسول اللہ»، «حى على الصلاة»، «حى على الصلاة»، «حى على الفلاح»، «حى على الفلاح»، «قد قامت الصلاة»،«قد قامت الصلاة»، «اللہ أكبر اللہ أكبر»، «لا إله إلا اللہ»۔ ابن جریج کہتے ہیں کہ یہ پوری حدیث مجھے حضرت عثمان نے بتائی، وہ اسے اپنے والد اور عبدالملک بن ابی محذورہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی ماں دونوں کے واسطہ سے روایت کر رہے تھے کہ ان دونوں نے اسے ابومحذورہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنی ہے۔
