Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم رَأَى نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ فَسَأَلَ فَقَالُوا رَجُلٌ أَجْهَدَهُ الصَّوْمُ . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَيْسَ مِنَ الْبِرِّ الصِّيَامُ فِي السَّفَرِ " .
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Jabir bin Hadrat 'Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that:the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw some people gathered around a man, so he asked (what was happening) and they said: "It is a man who is exhausted because of fasting." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "It is not righteousness to fast when traveling
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے کچھ لوگوں کو ایک شخص کو گھیرے ہوئے دیکھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پوچھا: ( کیا بات ہے؟ کیوں لوگ اکٹھا ہیں؟ ) تو لوگوں نے کہا: ایک شخص ہے جسے روزہ نے نڈھال کر دیا ہے، تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”سفر میں روزہ رکھنا نیکی و تقویٰ نہیں ہے“۔
