English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man had a debt owed to him by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He demanded its repayment harshly, so the Companions intended to punish him. He (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the one who has a right may say something (about it) (these manners are proofs of prophethood)." Then he (peace be upon him) said: "Buy him a camel and give it to him." They said: We can only find one better than his camel. So he (peace be upon him) said: "Buy that very one and give it to him, for the best of you are those who repay their debts well." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 957]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہایک شخص کا رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر قرض تھا۔ اس نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو سختی سے ادائیگی کا کہا تو صحابہ نے اس کو سزا دینے کا قصد کیا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یقیناً جس کا حق ہے اس کو کچھ کہنا جائز ہے (یہ اخلاق دلیل ہیں نبوت کے)۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس کو ایک اونٹ خرید کر دو۔ انہوں نے کہا ہمیں تو اس کے اونٹ سے بہتر ملتا ہے، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ وہی خرید کر دو کیونکہ تم میں بہتر لوگ وہ ہیں جو قرض کو اچھی طرح ادا کریں۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 957]
