English Translation
Narrated Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the shighar marriage. And shighar was this: that a man would give his daughter in marriage to another on the agreement that he too give his daughter to him in marriage, and no dowry would be fixed between the two.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے نکاح شغار سے منع فرمایا ہے۔ اور شغار یہ تھا کہ ایک شخص اپنی بیٹی دوسرے کو اس اقرار کے ساتھ بیاہ دیتا تھا کہ وہ بھی اپنی بیٹی اسے بیاہ دے اور دونوں کے درمیان مہر مقرر نہ ہو۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 808]
