English Translation
Narrated Ubayd ibn Jurayj: He said to Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), "O Abu Abd al-Rahman! I have seen you doing four things which I have not seen any of your companions do." He said, "O son of Jurayj! What are they?" He said, "First, I see that you do not touch the corners of the Kabah (during Tawaf) except the two corners which are toward Yemen. Second, that you wear tanned sandals. Third, that you dye (your beard, with saffron, wars, and the like). Fourth, that when you were in Makkah, the people would begin pronouncing the Talbiyah as soon as they sighted the moon, but you did not pronounce it until the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah." So Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) answered, "(Listen!) As for the corners, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) touching any of them except those toward Yemen. As for tanned sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wearing sandals that had no hair on them, and he would perform ablution in them (i.e., he would put them on his wet feet after ablution); so I too love to wear them. As for the yellowness, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) dyeing with it (i.e., his hair or clothes), so I too like to dye with it. And as for the Talbiyah, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) pronounce it except when his she-camel rose up carrying him (i.e., near the mosque of Dhul-Hulayfah)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبید بن جریج سے روایت ہے کہانہوں نے سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے کہا کہ اے ابوعبدالرحمن! میں نے تمہیں چار ایسے کام کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے جو تمہارے ساتھیوں میں سے کسی کو کرتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اے جریج کے بیٹے! وہ کون سے کام ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ اول یہ کہ میں تمہیں دیکھتا ہوں کہ تم کعبہ کے کونوں میں سے (طواف کے وقت) ہاتھ نہیں لگاتے ہو مگر دو کونوں کو جو یمن کی طرف ہیں۔ دوسرے یہ کہ تم سبتی جوتے پہنتے ہو۔ تیسرے یہ کہ (زعفران و ورس وغیرہ سے داڑھی) رنگتے ہو۔ چوتھے یہ کہ جب تم مکہ میں ہوتے تھے، تو لوگوں نے چاند دیکھتے ہی لبیک پکارنا شروع کر دی تھی مگر آپ نے آٹھ ذی الحجہ کو پکاری۔ پس سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے جواب دیا کہ (سنو!) ارکان تو میں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمان کو چھوتے ہوں سوا ان کے جو یمن کی طرف ہیں اور سبتی جوتے تو میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو دیکھا کہ وہ بھی ایسے جوتے پہنتے تھے جس میں بال نہ ہوں اور اسی میں وضو کرتے تھے (یعنی وضو کر کے گیلے پیر میں اس کو پہن لیتے تھے) پس میں بھی اس کو دوست رکھتا ہوں کہ میں بھی اسی کو پہنوں۔ رہی زردی تو میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو دیکھا ہے کہ وہ بھی اس سے رنگتے تھے (یعنی بالوں کو یا کپڑوں کو) تو میں بھی پسند کرتا ہوں کہ اس سے رنگوں اور لبیک، تو میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو نہیں دیکھا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے لبیک پکارا ہو مگر جب اونٹنی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو سوار کر کے اٹھی (یعنی مسجد ذوالحلیفہ کے پاس)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 659]
