English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: "A man said: Tonight I shall give some charity. So he took out his charity (he intended to conceal the charity, for he set out with it at night) and placed it in the hand of a fornicating woman. In the morning the people were talking, saying: Tonight a man gave charity to a fornicating woman. He said: O Allah, all praise is Yours, that my charity fell to a fornicating woman. Then he said: I shall give charity again. So he went out and gave it to a rich, wealthy man. And in the morning the people were talking, saying: Today someone gave charity to a rich man. He said: O Allah, all praise is Yours, my charity fell into the hand of a rich man. On the third day he again said: I shall give charity. And he went out and placed the charity in the hand of a thief. In the morning the people were talking, saying: Today someone gave charity to a thief. He said: O Allah, all praise is Yours, that my charity fell into the hand of a fornicating woman, a rich man, and a thief. Then a man came to him (that is, an angel, or a prophet of that time, peace be upon him) and said to him: All your charities have been accepted. As for the fornicating woman, perhaps she may refrain from that fornication (for she used to fornicate for the sake of her belly). As for the rich man, it was accepted so that perhaps he may feel shame and take heed that others give charity, so I too should give, and may spend from the wealth Allah, the Exalted, has given him. And as for the thief, perhaps he may refrain from theft (since today's provision has come to him)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: ایک شخص نے کہا کہ میں آج کی رات کچھ صدقہ دوں گا۔ وہ اپنا صدقہ لے کر نکلا (یہ صدقہ کو چھپانا منظور تھا کہ رات کو لے کر نکلا) اور ایک زناکار عورت کے ہاتھ میں دیدیا۔ پھر صبح کو لوگ چرچا کرنے لگے کہ آج کی رات ایک شخص زناکار عورت کے ہاتھ صدقہ دے گیا۔ اس نے کہا کہ اے اللہ! سب خوبیاں تیرے لئے ہیں کہ میرا صدقہ زناکار کو جا پڑا۔ پھر اس نے کہا کہ آج اور صدقہ دوں گا۔ پھر نکلا اور ایک غنی مالدار کو دیدیا۔ اور لوگ صبح کو چرچا کرنے لگے کہ آج کوئی مالدار کو صدقہ دے گیا۔ اس نے کہا کہ اے اللہ! سب خوبیاں تیرے لئے ہیں میرا صدقہ مالدار کے ہاتھ جا پڑا۔ تیسرے دن پھر اس نے کہا کہ میں صدقہ دوں گا۔ اور وہ نکلا اور صدقہ ایک چور کے ہاتھ میں دیدیا۔ صبح کو لوگ چرچا کرنے لگے کہ آج کوئی چور کو صدقہ دے گیا۔ اس نے کہا کہ اے اللہ! سب خوبیاں تیرے ہی لئے ہیں کہ میرا صدقہ زناکار عورت، مالدار شخص اور چور کے ہاتھ میں جا پڑا۔ پھر اس کے پاس ایک شخص آیا (یعنی فرشتہ یا اس زمانہ کے نبی علیہ السلام) اور اس سے کہا کہ تیرے سب صدقے قبول ہو گئے۔ زناکار کا تو اس لئے کہ شاید وہ اس زنا سے باز رہی ہو (اس لئے کہ پیٹ کے لئے زنا کرتی تھی) رہا غنی تو اس کا اس لئے قبول ہوا کہ شاید اسے شرم آئے اور عبرت ہو کہ اور لوگ صدقہ دیتے ہیں تو میں بھی دوں۔ اور وہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے دئیے ہوئے مال میں سے خرچ کرے۔ اور چور کا اس لئے کہ شاید وہ چوری سے باز آ جائے (اس لئے کہ آج کا خرچ تو آ گیا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 547]
