English Translation
Narrated Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Abu Talhah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the wealthiest in Medina, and his most beloved property was a garden called Bayruha', which was in front of the Prophet's Mosque. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to go into it and drink its sweet water. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When this verse was revealed, "You shall not attain the height of righteousness until you spend of that which you love in the way of Allah," Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Allah, the Exalted, says, "You shall not attain the height of righteousness until you spend of the wealth you love," and the most beloved of all my property is Bayruha'; it is charity in the way of Allah, and I hope for its reward from Allah and its being stored up for me in the Hereafter. So place it, O Messenger of Allah, wherever you wish. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "That is profitable property indeed; that is profitable property indeed. I have heard what you said, and I think it fitting that you distribute it among your kinsfolk." So Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) distributed it among his kinsfolk and his cousins.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہابوطلحہ انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ مدینہ میں بہت مالدار تھے اور بہت محبوب مال ان کا بیرحاء ایک باغ تھا، جو مسجدنبوی کے آگے تھا۔ اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس میں جاتے اور اس کا میٹھا پانی پیتے تھے۔ سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ جب یہ آیت اتری کہ”نہ پہنچو گے تم نیکی کی حد کو جب تک کہ نہ خرچ کرو گے اپنی محبوب چیزوں کو اللہ کی راہ میں“تو سیدنا ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کھڑے ہو کر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے عرض کیا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ”تم نیکی کی حد کو نہ پہنچو گے جب تک اپنے محبوب مال نہ خرچ کرو“اور میرے سب مالوں سے زیادہ محبوب بیرحاء ہے، وہ اللہ کی راہ میں صدقہ ہے اور میں اللہ سے اس کے ثواب اور آخرت میں اس کے ذخیرہ ہو جانے کا امیدوار ہوں۔ سو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس کو جہاں چاہیں رکھ دیں۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یہ تو بڑے نفع کا مال ہے۔ یہ تو بڑے نفع کا مال ہے۔ میں نے سنا جو تم نے کہا اور میں مناسب جانتا ہوں کہ تم اسے اپنے عزیزوں میں بانٹ دو۔ پھر اس کو سیدنا ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے عزیزوں اور چچا زاد بھائیوں میں بانٹ دیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 529]
