English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to collect zakat. Then he was told that Ibn Jamil, Khalid bin al-Walid, and (the Messenger of Allah's uncle) Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) had not given zakat. So he said: As for Ibn Jamil, he only takes revenge because he was needy and Allah made him rich; and as for Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), you are being unjust to him, because he has given his coats of mail and weapons in the path of Allah (so why would he not give zakat); and as for Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), his zakat and an equal amount besides are upon me. Then he said: O Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)! Do you not know that the paternal uncle is equal to the father? [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim/Hadith: 505]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو زکوٰۃ وصول کرنے کو بھیجا۔ پھر آپ کو بتایا گیا کہ ابن جمیل، خالد بن ولید اور (رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے چچا) عباس رضی اللہ عنہما، ان لوگوں نے زکوٰۃ نہیں دی تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ ابن جمیل تو اس کا بدلہ لیتا ہے کہ وہ محتاج تھا اور اللہ نے اس کو امیر کر دیا اور خالد رضی اللہ عنہ پر تم زیادتی کرتے ہو اس لئے کہ اس نے تو زرہیں اور ہتھیار تک اللہ کی راہ میں دیدئیے ہیں (یعنی پھر زکوٰۃ کیوں نہ دے گا) اور رہے عباس رضی اللہ عنہ تو ان کی زکوٰۃ اور اتنی ہی مقدار اور میرے ذمہ ہے۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ! کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ چچا تو باپ کے برابر ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 505]
