English Translation
It is narrated from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: In my ummah there are four matters of the Days of Ignorance (that is, the era of disbelief) which people will not abandon: one, boasting of one's lineage; two, taunting one another over ancestry; three, seeking rain from the stars; and four, wailing over the dead. And the wailing woman, if she does not repent before her death, will on the Day of Resurrection have upon her a shirt of pitch (tar) and a garment of scabs. [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim/Hadith: 463]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابومالک اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: میری امت میں جاہلیت (یعنی زمانہ کفر) کی چار چیزیں ہیں کہ لوگ ان کو نہ چھوڑیں گے۔ ایک اپنے حسب پر فخر کرنا۔ دوسرا ایک دوسرے کے نسب پر طعن کرنا۔ تیسرے تاروں سے بارش کی امید رکھنا اور چوتھے یہ کہ بین کر کے رونا۔ اور بین کرنے والی اگر اپنے مرنے سے پہلے توبہ نہ کرے تو قیامت کے دن اس پر گندھک اور خارش (لگانے) والی قمیض ہو گی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 463]
