English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was one day delivering the Friday sermon to the people when Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), gesturing toward him, said, "What is the case of those people who delay after the adhan?" So Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Commander of the Believers, when I heard the adhan I did nothing but perform ablution — I performed ablution and came." Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Only ablution? Did the people not hear that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say: 'When one of you comes to Jumu'ah, let him take a bath'?" [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 404]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ ایک دن لوگوں کو جمعہ کا خطبہ دے رہے تھے کہ سیدنا عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ آئے اور سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ کیا حال ہو گا ان لوگوں کا جو اذان کے بعد دیر لگاتے ہیں؟ تو سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اے امیرالمؤمنین! جب میں نے اذان سنی تو اور کچھ نہیں کیا سوا وضو کے، کہ وضو کیا اور آیا۔ سیدنا عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ صرف وضو ہی کیا؟ کیا لوگوں نے نہیں سنا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ جب کوئی جمعہ کو آئے تو ضرور نہائے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 404]
