English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever does not recite Surah al-Fatihah in the prayer, his prayer is not complete"—rather it remains deficient. He (peace be upon him) said this sentence three times. The people asked, "O Abu Hurairah, when we are behind the imam, what should we do?" Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "At that time recite Surah al-Fatihah to yourselves, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) relate this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant shall have what he asks. When the servant says 'Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil-alamin,' Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says, 'My servant has praised Me.' And when (the one praying) says 'Ar-Rahman ar-Rahim,' Allah, the Exalted, says, 'My servant has extolled Me.' And when (the one praying) says 'Maliki yawmid-din,' Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says, 'My servant has glorified Me,' and also says, 'My servant has entrusted all his affairs to Me.' And when (the one praying) recites 'Iyyaka nabudu wa iyyaka nastain,' Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says, 'This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he asks.' Then when (the one praying) recites in his prayer 'Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqim, siratal-ladhina anamta alaihim ghairil-maghdubi alaihim wa lad-dallin,' Allah, the Exalted, replies, 'All this is for this servant of Mine, and whatever he asks will be given to him.'"
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: جس نے نماز میں سورۃ الفاتحہ نہیں پڑھی تو اس کی نماز پوری نہیں ہوئی بلکہ اس کی نماز ناقص رہی۔ یہ جملہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے تین بار ارشاد فرمایا۔ لوگوں نے پوچھا کہ اے ابوہریرہ جب ہم امام کے پیچھے ہوں تو کیا کریں؟ سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اس وقت تم لوگ آہستہ سورۃ الفاتحہ پڑھ لیا کرو، کیونکہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو اللہ عزوجل کا یہ قول فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ میں نے نماز اپنے اور اپنے بندے کے درمیان آدھی آدھی تقسیم کر دی ہے اور میرا بندہ جو سوال کرتا ہے وہ پورا کیا جاتا ہے۔ جب بندہ الحمدللہ ربّ العالمین کہتا ہے تو اللہ عزوجل فرماتا ہے کہ میرے بندے نے میری تعریف کی اور (نمازی) جب الرحمن الرحیم کہتا ہے تو اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ میرے بندے نے میری توصیف کی اور (نمازی) جب مالک یوم الدّین کہتا ہے تو اللہ عزوجل فرماتا ہے کہ میرے بندے نے میری بزرگی بیان کی اور یوں بھی کہتا ہے کہ میرے بندے نے اپنے سب کام میرے سپرد کر دئیے ہیں اور (نمازی) جب ایّاک نعبد وایّاک نستعین پڑھتا ہے تو اللہ عزوجل کہتا ہے کہ یہ میرے اور میرے بندے کا درمیانی معاملہ ہے اور میرا بندہ جو سوال کرے گا وہ اس کو ملے گا۔ پھر جب (نمازی) اپنی نماز میں اھدنا الصّراط المستقیم () صراط الّذین انعمت علیہم غیر المغضوب علیہم ولا الضّآلّین پڑھتا ہے تو اللہ تعالیٰ جواب دیتا ہے کہ یہ سب میرے اس بندے کے لئے ہے اور یہ جو کچھ طلب کر رہا ہے وہ اسے دیا جائے گا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 281]
