English Translation
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): He said that when this verse, "O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) ...... to the end," was revealed, Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas (may Allah be pleased with him) sat in his house and began to say, "I am indeed a person of the Fire" (because his voice was very loud and he was the orator of the Ansar, so he became afraid), and he stopped coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Amr! What is the matter with Thabit? Has he fallen ill?" Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "He is my neighbor, and I do not know that he is ill." Then Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him what the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had said. Thereupon Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This verse was revealed, and you know that my voice is louder than the Messenger of Allah's (peace be upon him); therefore I am a person of the Fire." Then Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported this to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he (peace be upon him) said, "No, rather he is a person of Paradise." Urdu Translation
سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہانہوں نے کہا کہ جب یہ آیت”اے ایمان والو! اپنی آوازیں نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) کی آواز سے بلند مت کرو ........ آخر تک“نازل ہوئی تو سیدنا ثابت بن قیس بن شماس رضی اللہ عنہ اپنے گھر میں بیٹھ رہے اور کہنے لگے کہ میں تو جہنمی ہوں (کیونکہ ان کی آواز بہت بلند تھی اور وہ انصار کے خطیب تھے، اس لئے وہ ڈر گئے) اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آنا چھوڑ دیا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا سعد بن معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کہ اے ابوعمرو! ثابت کا کیا حال ہے کیا بیمار ہو گیا ہے؟ سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ وہ میرا ہمسایہ ہے، میں نہیں جانتا کہ وہ بیمار ہے۔ پھر سیدنا رضی اللہ عنہ سعد سیدنا ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے اور ان سے بیان کیا کہ جو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا تھا تو سیدنا ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یہ آیت اتری اور تم جانتے ہو کہ میری آواز رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر اونچی ہے، (اس لئے) میں تو جہنمی ہوں۔ پھر سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے یہ بیان کیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ نہیں، بلکہ وہ جنتی ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2166]
