English Translation
Sayyiduna Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): Surat at-Tawba? He said: Surat at-Tawba? And he said: Rather that Sura is the disgracer and the exposer (of the disbelievers and the hypocrites). In this Sura it kept being revealed: "and among them" "and among them," until the hypocrites feared that no one would remain who was not mentioned in this Sura. I said: Surat al-Anfal? He said: That Sura is about the Battle of Badr (in it are mentioned the rulings of the spoils of war). I said: Surat al-Hashr? He said: That was revealed concerning the Banu an-Nadir.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سعید بن جبیر کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے کہا کہ سورۃ التوبہ؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ سورۃ التوبہ؟ اور کہا کہ بلکہ وہ سورت تو ذلیل کرنے والی ہے اور فضیحت کرنے والی ہے (کافروں اور منافقوں کی)۔ اس سورت میں برابر اترتا رہا کہ”اور ان میں سے“”اور ان میں سے“یہاں تک کہ منافق لوگ سمجھے کہ کوئی باقی نہ رہے گا جس کا ذکر اس سورت میں نہ کیا جائے گا۔ میں نے کہا کہ سورۃ الانفال؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ سورت تو بدر کی لڑائی کے بارے میں ہے (اس میں مال غنیمت کے احکام مذکور ہیں)۔ میں نے کہا کہ سورۃ الحشر؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ بنی نضیر کے بارے میں اتری۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2142]
