English Translation
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was reciting the Qur'an one night at the place where he dried his dates, when his horse began to jump about. He would recite and the horse would jump; then he recited again, and it jumped again. He said: I feared that it might trample (my son) Yahya, so I went and stood beside it. And what did I see but a canopy-like thing over my head in which lamps were shining, and it rose upward until it went out of my sight. Then I saw it no more. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the morning and said: O Messenger of Allah! Last night I was reciting the Qur'an at my threshing floor when suddenly my horse began to jump. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Keep reciting, O Ibn Hudayr." He said: I kept reciting, and the horse jumped again. Then he (peace be upon him) said: "Keep reciting, O Ibn Hudayr." He said: I kept reciting, and the horse jumped as before. Then he (peace be upon him) said: "Keep reciting, O Ibn Hudayr." He said: When I finished, and Yahya was near the horse, I feared lest it trample Yahya, so I saw a canopy-like thing in which lamps were shining, and it rose upward until it went beyond my sight. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Those were angels who were listening to your recitation; and had you kept reciting, morning would have come while they remained so, and the people would have seen them and they would not have been hidden from their sight."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہسیدنا اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ اپنی کھجوریں خشک کرنے کی جگہ میں ایک رات قرآن پڑھ رہے تھے کہ ان کا گھوڑا کودنے لگا اور وہ پڑھتے تھے تو گھوڑا کودتا تھا۔ پھر وہ پڑھنے لگے، پھر وہ کودنے لگا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں ڈرا کہ کہیں (میرے بیٹے) یحییٰ کو کچل نہ ڈالے، پس میں اس کے پاس جا کھڑا ہوا۔ اور کیا دیکھتا ہوں کہ ایک سائبان سا میرے سر پر ہے کہ اس میں چراغ سے روشن ہیں اور وہ اوپر کو چڑھ گیا، یہاں تک کہ حد نظر سے دور چلا گیا۔ پھر نہ دیکھا پھر میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی خدمت میں صبح کو حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! رات کو میں اپنے کھریاں میں قرآن پڑھتا تھا کہ اچانک میرا گھوڑا کودنے لگا۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ پڑھے جا اے ابن حضیر! انہوں نے کہا کہ میں پڑھے گیا، گھوڑا پھر کودنے لگا۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اے ابن حضیر پڑھے جا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں پڑھتا گیا تو گھوڑا ویسے ہی کودنے لگا پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ پڑھے جا اے ابن حضیر! انہوں نے کہا کہ جب میں فارغ ہوا اور یحییٰ گھوڑے کے پاس تھا تو مجھے خوف ہوا کہ کہیں یحییٰ کو نہ کچل ڈالے، تو میں نے ایک سائبان سا دیکھا کہ اس میں چراغ سے روشن تھے اور وہ اوپر کو چڑھ گیا یہاں تک کہ حد نظر سے اوپر ہو گیا تب رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ یہ فرشتے تھے جو تمہاری قرآت سن رہے تھے اور اگر تم پڑھتے رہتے تو اسی طرح صبح ہوتی کہ لوگ ان (فرشتوں) کو دیکھتے اور وہ ان کی نظر سے پوشیدہ نہ رہتے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2107]
