English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): When this verse was revealed — "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it" — it weighed very heavily upon the Muslims (that every sin would surely bring punishment). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Adopt moderation and seek the straight path, and every calamity that befalls a Muslim is an expiation for his sins, even a stumble or a thorn (that pricks him — then the recompense for many sins is settled in this very world, and it is hoped that there will be no accounting in the Hereafter)."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہجب یہ آیت اتری کہ”جو کوئی برائی کرے گا، اس کو اس کا بدلہ ملے گا“تو مسلمانوں پر بہت سخت گزرا (کہ ہر گناہ کے بدلے ضرور عذاب ہو گا)۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ میانہ روی اختیار کرو اور ٹھیک راستہ کو ڈھونڈو اور مسلمان کو (پیش آنے والی) ہر ایک مصیبت (اس کے لئے) گناہوں کا کفارہ ہے، یہاں تک کہ ٹھوکر اور کانٹا بھی (لگے تو بہت سے گناہوں کا بدلہ دنیا ہی میں ہو جائے گا اور امید ہے کہ آخرت میں مؤاخذہ نہ ہو گا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1799]
