English Translation
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A son of Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), born to Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), died. She said to her household: Do not inform Abu Talha of his son until I myself tell him. At last Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and Sayyida Umm Sulaym brought him his evening meal. He ate and drank, then Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) adorned and beautified herself well for him, until he had relations with her. When Umm Sulaym saw that he was satisfied and had been intimate with her, then she said: O Abu Talha! If some people lend a thing to a household, and then ask for their thing back, can the household withhold it? Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, they cannot withhold it. Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Then hope for reward from Allah the Exalted for your son (because the son had died). Hearing this, Abu Talha grew angry and said: You left me alone until I became defiled with you (that is, had relations), and now you inform me about the son. He went and came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and informed him. He (peace be upon him) said: May Allah the Exalted bless you both in the night that has passed. Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) became pregnant. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was on a journey, and Umm Sulaym was with him (peace be upon him). And he (peace be upon him), when he returned from a journey to Madinah, would not enter Madinah at night. When the people neared Madinah, Umm Sulaym went into labor, and Abu Talha stayed with her, while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went on. Abu Talha said: O Lord! You know that I love that when Your Messenger (peace be upon him) sets out, I set out with him, and when he enters Madinah, I too enter with him, but You know why I have stayed back. Umm Sulaym said: O Abu Talha! Now I do not have the pain I had before, so let us go. We went on, and when they both came into Madinah, Umm Sulaym's pains resumed and she gave birth to a boy. My mother said: O Anas! Let no one nurse him until you take him to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the morning. When morning came, I took up the child and brought him to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). When I reached him, I saw that in his (peace be upon him) hand was the instrument for branding camels. When he (peace be upon him) saw me, he said: Perhaps Umm Sulaym has given birth to a boy? I said: Yes. He (peace be upon him) put down that instrument from his blessed hand, and I brought the child and set him in his (peace be upon him) lap. He (peace be upon him) called for an ajwa date of Madinah and chewed it in his blessed mouth; when it had dissolved, he put it into the child's mouth, and the child began to suck it. He (peace be upon him) said: See how the Ansar love dates! Then he (peace be upon him) passed his hand over his face and named him Abdullah.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ کا ایک بیٹا جو سیدہ ام سلیم رضی اللہ عنہا کے بطن سے تھا، فوت ہو گیا۔ انہوں نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا کہ جب تک میں خود نہ کہوں ابوطلحہ کو ان کے بیٹے کی خبر نہ کرنا۔ آخر سیدنا ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ آئے تو سیدہ ام سلیم شام کا کھانا سامنے لائیں۔ انہوں نے کھایا اور پیا پھر ام سلیم رضی اللہ عنہا نے ان کے لئے اچھی طرح بناؤ اور سنگھار کیا یہاں تک کہ انہوں نے ان سے جماع کیا۔ جب ام سلیم نے دیکھا کہ وہ سیر ہو چکے اور ان کے ساتھ صحبت بھی کر چکے تو اس وقت انہوں نے کہا کہ اے ابوطلحہ! اگر کچھ لوگ اپنی چیز کسی گھر والوں کو مانگے پر دیں، پھر اپنی چیز مانگیں تو کیا گھر والے اس کو روک سکتے ہیں؟ سیدنا ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ نہیں روک سکتے۔ سیدہ ام سلیم رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا کہ اپنے بیٹے کے عوض اللہ تعالیٰ سے ثواب کی امید رکھو (کیونکہ بیٹا تو فوت ہو چکا تھا)۔ یہ سن کر ابوطلحہ غصے ہوئے اور کہنے لگے کہ تم نے مجھے چھوڑے رکھا یہاں تک کہ میں تمہارے ساتھ آلودہ ہوا (یعنی جماع کیا) تو اب مجھے بیٹے کے متعلق خبر دے رہی ہو۔ وہ گئے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس جا کر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو خبر کی۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہاری گزری ہوئی رات میں تمہیں برکت دے۔ ام سلیم رضی اللہ عنہا حاملہ ہو گئیں۔ کہتے ہیں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسفر میں تھے ام سلیم بھی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ تھیں اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب سفر سے مدینہ میں تشریف لاتے تو رات کو مدینہ میں داخل نہ ہوتے جب لوگ مدینہ کے قریب پہنچے تو ام سلیم کو درد زہ شروع ہوا اور ابوطلحہ ان کے پاس ٹھہرے رہے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمتشریف لے گئے۔ ابوطلحہ کہتے ہیں کہ اے پروردگار! تو جانتا ہے کہ مجھے یہ بات پسند ہے کہ جب تیرا رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنکلے تو ساتھ میں بھی نکلوں اور جب مدینہ میں واپس داخل ہو تو میں بھی ساتھ داخل ہوں، لیکن تو جانتا ہے میں جس وجہ سے رک گیا ہوں۔ ام سلیم نے کہا کہ اے ابوطلحہ! اب میرے ویسا درد نہیں ہے جیسے پہلے تھا تو چلو۔ ہم چلے جب دونوں مدینہ میں آئے تو پھر ام سلیم کو درد شروع ہوا اور انہوں نے ایک لڑکے کو جنم دیا۔ میری ماں نے کہا کہ اے انس! اس کو کوئی اس وقت تک دودھ نہ پلائے جب تک تو صبح کو اس کو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس نہ لے جائے۔ جب صبح ہوئی تو میں نے بچہ کو اٹھایا اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس لایا میں آپ کے پاس پہنچا تو دیکھا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہاتھ میں اونٹوں کے داغنے کا آلہ ہے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے جب مجھے دیکھا تو فرمایا کہ شاید ام سلیم نے لڑکے کو جنم دیا ہے؟ میں نے کہا کہ ہاں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے وہ آلہ ہاتھ مبارک سے رکھ دیا اور میں بچہ کو لا کر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی گود میں بٹھا دیا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے عجوہ کھجور مدینہ کی منگوائی اور اپنے منہ مبارک میں چبائی، جب وہ گھل گئی تو بچہ کے منہ میں ڈال دی بچہ اس کو چوسنے لگا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ دیکھو انصار کو کھجور سے کیسی محبت ہے۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کے منہ پر ہاتھ پھیرا اور اس کا نام عبداللہ رکھا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1702]
