English Translation
Narrated al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him): Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a proposal (of marriage) to the daughter of Abu Jahl, while under his marriage was the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). When Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this news, she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "People say concerning you that you do not become angry for the sake of your daughters, and here is Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who is about to marry the daughter of Abu Jahl." Al-Miswar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) recited the two testimonies of faith and then said, "I married my daughter (Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her) to Abu al-As bin al-Rabi, and what he told me he told me truthfully. And Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad (peace be upon him), is a piece of my flesh, and I dislike that people should put her to trial (that is, when Ali marries another, Fatimah might, out of jealousy, say something against her husband or disobey him and become sinful). And by Allah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah shall never be joined together with one man." Hearing this, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave up the proposal (that is, he abandoned the intention of marrying the daughter of Abu Jahl). [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1654]

سیدنا مسور بن مخرمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہسیدنا علی بن ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابوجہل کی بیٹی کو (نکاح کا) پیام دیا اور ان کے نکاح میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی صاحبزادی سیدہ فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہا تھیں۔ سیدہ فاطمۃالزہراء رضی اللہ عنہا نے یہ خبر سنی تو وہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آئیں اور عرض کیا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے بارے میں لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماپنی بیٹیوں کے لئے غصہ نہیں ہوتے اور یہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں جو ابوجہل کی بیٹی سے نکاح کرنے والے ہیں۔ سیدنا مسور رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے شہادتین کی ادائیگی کی اور پھر فرمایا کہ میں نے اپنی لڑکی (سیدہ زینب رضی اللہ عنہا) کا نکاح ابوالعاص بن ربیع سے کیا اس نے جو بات مجھ سے کہی وہ سچ کہی اور فاطمہ بنت محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) میرے گوشت کا ٹکڑا ہے اور مجھے برا لگتا ہے کہ لوگ اس کو آزمائش میں ڈالیں (یعنی جب علی دوسرا نکاح کریں گے تو شاید فاطمہ رشک کی وجہ سے کوئی بات اپنے خاوند کے خلاف کہہ بیٹھیں یا ان کی نافرمانی کریں اور گنہگار ہوں) اور اللہ کی قسم! اللہ کے رسول کی بیٹی اور اللہ کے دشمن کی لڑکی دونوں ایک مرد کے پاس جمع نہ ہوں گی۔ یہ سن کر سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے پیام چھوڑ دیا۔ (یعنی ابوجہل کی بیٹی سے نکاح کا ارادہ ختم کر دیا)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1654]
