English Translation
Narrated Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman (the foster nephew of Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her): I and the foster brother of Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) (Abdullah bin Yazid) went to her and asked about the bath of major ritual impurity (janabah) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). She called for a vessel which held about a sa' of water, and bathed with a screen between us and herself, and poured water over her head three times. Abu Salamah said: The wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to trim their hair and keep it up to the ears. (The pure wives did this after the passing of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to give up adornment, because hair is an adornment for a woman.)
Urdu Translation
ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمن (سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے رضاعی بھانجے) کہتے ہیں کہمیں اور ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا رضاعی بھائی (عبداللہ بن یزید) ان کے پاس گئے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے غسل جنابت کے متعلق پوچھا؟ انہوں نے ایک برتن منگوایا جس میں صاع بھر پانی آتا تھا اور ہمارے اور اپنے درمیان پردے کی آڑ سے غسل کیا اور انہوں نے اپنے سر پر تین بار پانی ڈالا۔ ابوسلمہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی بیویاں اپنے بال کتراتی تھیں اور کانوں تک بال رکھتی تھیں۔ (ازواج مطہرات نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی رحلت کے بعد زینت ختم کرنے کے لئے ایسا کیا تھا کیونکہ بال عورت کی زینت ہیں)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 156]
