English Translation
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): He stayed one night with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). In the latter part of the night, the Prophet (peace be upon him) got up, went outside, and looked at the sky. Then he recited this verse which is in Surah Al 'Imran, from "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night..." to "...so protect us from the punishment of the Fire." Then he came back inside, used the tooth-stick (miswak), performed ablution, and stood and prayed. Then he lay down, then got up again and went outside and looked at the sky and recited the same verse. Then he came back inside, used the tooth-stick, performed ablution, and again stood and prayed.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہوہ ایک رات رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس رہے تو پچھلی رات کو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماٹھے اور باہر نکل کر آسمان کی طرف دیکھا۔ پھر یہ آیت پڑھی جو سورۃ آل عمران میں ہے ((انّ فی خلق السّموات والارض واختلاف الیل ....)) سے ((فقنا عذاب النّار)) تک۔ پھر لوٹ کر اندر آئے اور مسواک کی اور وضو کیا اور کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھی۔ پھر لیٹ گئے پھر اٹھے اور باہر نکلے اور آسمان کی طرف دیکھا اور یہی آیت پڑھی۔ پھر لوٹ کر اندر آئے اور مسواک کی اور وضو کیا اور پھر کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 122]
