English Translation
Abu Abd ar-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a sermon and said: "O people, impose the prescribed punishment (hadd) upon your slave-women and slaves, whether they are married or not (that is, lash them). Because a slave-girl of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) committed adultery, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered me to lash her. I looked and found that she had recently given birth. I feared that if I lashed her she might die. I told the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he said: 'You did well (in postponing the lashing).'" In one narration there is this addition: "Leave her until she recovers (that is, until she is clear of the post-natal bleeding. The same ruling applies to a sick woman: she too is not to be given the prescribed punishment until she is healthy)." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1042]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوعبدالرحمن رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے خطبہ پڑھا تو کہا کہ اے لوگو! اپنی لونڈی، غلاموں کو حد لگاؤ خواہ وہ شادی شدہ ہوں یا نہ ہوں (یعنی کوڑے مارو)۔ کیونکہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی ایک لونڈی نے زنا کیا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھ کو اسے کوڑے لگانے کا حکم دیا۔ دیکھا تو اس کے ہاں ابھی قریب ہی ولادت ہوئی تھی۔ میں ڈرا کہ کہیں اس کو کوڑے ماروں (تو) وہ مر ہی نہ جائے۔ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے بیان کیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تو نے اچھا کیا (جو کوڑے لگانا موقوف رکھا)۔ ایک روایت میں اتنا زیادہ ہے کہ میں اس کو اس وقت تک چھوڑو جب تک وہ اچھی ہو جائے (یعنی نفاس سے صاف ہو۔ یہی حکم ہے مریضہ کا۔ اس کو بھی حد نہیں ماریں گے جب تک کہ تندرست نہ ہو جائے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1042]
