English Translation
Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Allah forbids you from swearing by your fathers and forefathers." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah, since I heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) I have not sworn by (my fathers and forefathers), neither on my own behalf nor on behalf of another (in reporting the words of others)." Urdu Translation
سیدنا عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تم کو باپ دادا کی قسم کھانے سے منع کرتا ہے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اللہ کی قسم! جب سے میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے یہ سنا میں نے (باپ دادا) کی قسم نہیں کھائی ہے، نہ اپنی طرف سے نہ دوسرے کی طرف سے (حکایت کرتے ہوئے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1010]
