English Translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), after returning from Ta'if, asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at the place of Ji'ranah: "O Messenger of Allah, in the days of ignorance I vowed to observe i'tikaf for one day in the Sacred Mosque. What do you say about it?" He said: "Go and observe i'tikaf for one day." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had granted him a slave-girl from the one-fifth (khums). When the Prophet (peace be upon him) freed all the captives, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard their voices saying, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has freed us." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "What is this (that they are saying)?" The people said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has freed the captives." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said (to his son): "O Abdullah, go to that slave-girl and set her free too." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1002]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہسیدنا عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے طائف سے لوٹنے کے بعد جعرانہ مقام پر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں نے جاہلیت میں ایک دن مسجدالحرام میں اعتکاف کرنے کی نذر کی تھی، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلماس کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جا اور ایک دن کا اعتکاف کر۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے خمس میں سے ایک لونڈی ان کو عنایت کی تھی، جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سب قیدیوں کو آزاد کر دیا تو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کی آوازیں سنیں، وہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ ہمیں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے آزاد کر دیا۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا یہ کیا (کہہ رہے) ہیں؟ لوگوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے قیدیوں کو آزاد کر دیا ہے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے (اپنے بیٹے سے) کہا کہ اے عبداللہ! اس لونڈی کے پاس جا اور اس کو بھی چھوڑ دے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1002]
