حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا هَذَا الْحَيَّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ وَقَدْ حَالَتْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ فَلَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي شَهْرِ الْحَرَامِ فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَعْمَلُ بِهِ وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا قَالَ آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ الْإِيمَانِ بِاللَّهِ ثُمَّ فَسَّرَهَا لَهُمْ فَقَالَ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُقَيَّرِ زَادَ خَلَفٌ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَعَقَدَ وَاحِدَةً.
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them) reported that the delegation of 'Abd al-Qais came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he stated: Who are the delegation? They submitted: (We are from) Rabi'a. He stated: Welcome to the delegation, or the people, neither disgraced nor regretful. They submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah, we cannot come to you except in the sacred month... He ordered them four things and forbade them four things. He commanded them to believe in Allah alone and asked: Do you know what belief in Allah alone means? They submitted: Allah and His Messenger know best. He stated: It is to testify that there is no deity but Allah and that Muhammad is the Beloved Messenger of Allah, to establish the prayer, give the Zakat, fast in Ramadan, and give one-fifth of the war booty.

عمر وناقد ‘ سفیان بن عیینہ ‘ ہشام ‘ بن حجیر ‘ طاوس سے روایت ہے ، کہا : حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس ایک کتاب لائی گئی جس میں حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے فیصلے ( لکھے ہوئے ) تھے تو انہوں نے اس قدر چھوڑ کر باقی ( سب کچھ ) مٹا دیا اور سفیان بن عیینہ نے ہاتھ ( جتنی لمبائی ) کا اشارہ کیا ۔
