Arabic (Original)
وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْمَهْدِيُّ مِنْ عِتْرَتِي مِنْ أَوْلَادِ فَاطِمَة». رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "What befell the Children of Israel will befall my nation, step by step, to such an extent that if one of them openly committed intercourse with his mother, someone from my nation will do the same. The Children of Israel split into seventy-two sects, and my nation will split into seventy-three sects. All of them will be in the Fire except one." They said: "Which one is that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "What I and my Companions are upon." Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتی ہیں، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا:”مہدی میری عترت، فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی اولاد سے ہو گا۔“اسنادہ حسن، رواہ ابوداؤد۔[مشكوة المصابيح/كتاب الفتن/حدیث: 5453]
