وَعَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَاب». رَوَاهُ مُسلم
English Translation
Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "Do you know what backbiting is?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "It is to mention your brother in a way he would dislike." It was asked: "What if my brother is as I say?" He said: "If what you say about him is true, you have backbitten him; and if it is not true, you have slandered him."

مقداد بن اسود رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا:”جب تم مدح سرائی کرنے والوں کو دیکھو تو ان کے چہروں پر مٹی پھینکو۔“رواہ مسلم۔[مشكوة المصابيح/كتاب الآداب/حدیث: 4826]
